Teeling toasts its alliance with Australian winemaker and celebrates winning the Best Single Malt Whiskey in the world

Three premium, exclusive small batch whiskeys are about to be released in Australia by Teeling Whiskey from Dublin. Two are unique collaborations, one with respected Australian winemakers and the other with a well-known craft brewery and third is new supply of the Teeling 24 Year Old - the winning 2016 batch!

The new releases are:

  • Teeling Whiskey 24-Year-Old Single Malt ($600) “Winner World’s Best Single Malt 2019”
  • Teeling Whiskey 17-Year-Old Single Malt Jim Barry Shiraz Cask Collaboration ($200)
  • Teeling Whiskey Stout Cask Collaboration with Galway Bay Brewery ($80)

Earlier this year, Teeling won the prestigious World’s Best Single Malt award for their 24 year old at the World Whiskies Awards 2019. This premium whiskey is made from 100 percent malted barley and matured for 21 years in ex bourbon barrels, before being aged for a further 3 years in former Sauternes wine casks .

Distinguished by a label showing a Phoenix rising from the ashes of a pot still, the Teeling family’s roots in the Irish whiskey industry date back to 1782 when Walter Teeling established a craft distillery in the historic Liberties area of Dublin city. The tradition has been carried on today by brothers Jack and Stephen Teeling – who, in 2015 opened the first new distillery in Dublin in over 125 years. These entrepreneurs are recognised as progressive, Irish whiskey makers driving category choice and innovation through a selection of unique, handcrafted small batch Irish whiskeys. Since founding Teeling Whiskey, the brothers have won over 200 awards for their whiskey range and distillery.

An example of this is the new Teeling 17-year-old Single Malt Whiskey – The Armagh Shiraz Cask Finish a collaboration with South Australian winemakers from Jim Barry Wines. The whiskey has been crafted by Teeling and finished its maturation in oak barrels from Jim Barry Wines award-winning “The Armagh” Shiraz. This unique whiskey features concentrated dark fruit flavours of blackberry and cherry intermingled with liquorice and creamy oak, creating a Single Malt to be savoured.

“The Barry’s have been creating world-class wine from the Clare Valley region for 60 years and we saw many synergies between ourselves and brothers Sam and Tom Barry.  With their connection to Ireland, to running a successful family business, to perfecting their craft through the generations.  This fantastic collaboration between our families has resulted in a one of a kind expression with only 2,000 bottles available around the world”, said Founder Jack Teeling, Teeling Whiskey.

Also arriving early August is the Teeling Whiskey Imperial Stout Cask Finish – a small batch collaboration with the Galway Bay Brewery based on the west coast of Ireland. “Teeling Whiskey Company and Galway Bay Brewery, one of Ireland's most celebrated craft breweries, have been collaborating for years, on what has now become the cult classic "200 Fathoms" beer - a modern interpretation of an Imperial Stout. The new whiskey brings the collaboration full circle” says Jack Teeling.  The taste is sweet malt, roasted barley, sour fruits and black cherries, with a finish of Seville oranges, digestive biscuits, honey comb and cream.
