Babylon owners Phil & John Elsley are excited to announce that tickets are on sale for Newcastle and the Hunter’s first ever Whisky & Craft Spirit Festival. Bringing producers of fine spirits from across Australia and the world right into the heart of the city, the event is set to become an annual showcase for the best that distillers have to offer.
"Through our venues, we discovered just how far Novocastrians love of good quality produce stretched." said organisers and brothers Phil & John. "Having travelled to Sydney and Melbourne to attend similar events, we know that Newcastle deserves this."
"Our goal is to make this event one that local's look forward to each year, and something that also helps with the rejuvenation of the city."
Taking place on Saturday 24 August and set to be held in one of Newcastle's grand old dames, the 1903 Central Hall, the festival will invite guests to taste stallholders products. "Babylon has the largest range of Whisky outside of the capital cities, so it just makes sense to hold it here."
On the day more then 30 stallholders are expected and they won't be limited to just Whisky. A range of suppliers and distillers including gin, vodka and rums have already confirmed their involvement, and exhibitors will continue to be announced over the coming weeks.
For those that fancy a product they find, Nicholas Loker and the team of Tighes Hill Cellars will be on location on the day taking orders to be picked up or delivered. "We are super excited to be involved with the event and think it will be a massive hit with locals, as well as attracting a few out of towners," said Nicholas. "Like Phil and John, we have seen demand for quality products snowball over recent years, and this is an event that will resonate with our customers."
The day will culminate with live music from 6:30 PM when doors open to the public from and guests will be able to purchase from a specially designed cocktail list inspired by the sponsors.
