New Whisky from a New Aussie Distillery!

Introducing Chief's Son Australian Single Malt Whisky

In the last few years, the number of distilleries making whisky in Australia has increased at an amazing pace. But with the time it takes to make the really good stuff, we have to sit by and wait impatiently for their whisky to mature to the point where it's just right. So while there's lots of talk of new distilleries, it's not often that we get to announce an entire new range of Australian single malt whiskies from a new distillery. But today is one of those days. Introducing, Chief's Son Single Malt Whisky!

Chief’s Son Distillery is located at 25/50 Guelph St, Somerville Victoria 3912 and is a family owned and operated small batch distillery, who hand craft Single Malt Whisky by utilising the very best of artisan ingredients, small batch processes, hand selected barrels and a totally manual system.

Owned by the McIntosh family or “Mhic an Tòisich” in Scottish Gaelic, their surname literally means ‘Son of the Chief’. They are passionate about the inter-generational meaning of their name, so they simply flipped their surname around and locked in ‘Chiefs Son Distillery’. You will see the number ‘900’ adorning all the front labels of their whisky and it’s a number that pays homage to the significance and establishment of the McIntosh family name, some 900 years ago in Scotland. During those 900 years, each generation has passed knowledge, experience, passion, and even some whisky nous to successive generations.

Chief’s Son Distillery is producing amazing whisky with some super casks still maturing their new make and we’re excited to that their products are now released, with the full range available at The Old Barrelhouse, and are looking forward to sampling more of their future releases. And here's whats available now!

You don’t need to sit down for this one, whilst it’s big it’s different to your average ‘slap-in-the-head’ peated whisky. The creaminess, smoothness, complexity and mouthfeel of this unique malt whisky will transport you to far distant lands, swashbuckling days and high sea adventures…All matured in ex fortified French Oak Barrels with a very limited run of only 60 cask strength bottles.

The distillery says that “You won’t taste this style of Single Malt from any other distillery in the world”. The 900 Pure Malt switches out the peat for some darker specialty malt and is distilled using a very unique process, creating a crisp, full bodied, deep malt explosion of caramel, toffee and baked fruits. All matured in ex fortified French Oak barrels with a limited run of 128 bottles.

Hope you're able to get your hands (and lips) and one of these beauties and enjoy it very much!

Cheers!
